Building Bridges to Belonging

Creating inclusive spaces where individuals with disabilities and their families feel seen, supported, and connected.

Our Story

The Bridge To Jordan was created with a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves to feel like they belong.

For many individuals with cerebral palsy and other disabilities—and for their families—finding spaces of true connection can be difficult. We exist to change that.

Through meaningful programs and supportive communities, we bring people together, create lasting relationships, and help families navigate life with confidence and support.

Jordan's Journey

A Story of Perseverance, Hope, and the Bridges We Cross

jordan

Like every family welcoming a child, we imagined the milestones we would celebrate and the places life would take him. We did not yet know how much his journey would teach us about perseverance, hope, independence, and the courage to cross a bridge without knowing what waits on the other side.

As Jordan approached his first birthday, we noticed he was not reaching certain developmental milestones. He was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy. We knew little about the condition and felt overwhelmed by fear, uncertainty, and questions about his future. Through the Orange County Regional Center, special education, and various therapies, we began learning how to support him – one step at a time.

When Jordan was three, we traveled to Poland for an intensive rehabilitation program after holding a fundraiser to make the trip possible. There, he received therapies focused on movement, communication, and social development. During that month, Jordan tried to say words and called me “Momma” for the first time. It was a small word with enormous meaning – a moment of joy and hope we would never forget. We also met other families facing similar challenges and realized we were not alone.

As Jordan grew, so did his personality, confidence, and determination. During middle school, he began discovering his strengths and speaking up for himself. He learned that some things might require more time, effort, or a different approach, but different did not mean impossible.

At El Dorado High School, Jordan became an active and beloved member of the school community. He attended football games, participated in campus life, made lasting friendships, and became known not as the student in a wheelchair, but simply as Jordan – funny, outgoing, and full of life. During his senior year, his classmates chose him as Homecoming King.

That honor represented far more than a title. The child whose future had once seemed so uncertain was now a young man celebrated by his peers. Jordan had found his voice, built meaningful relationships, and created a place for himself. He was not asking permission to live his life; he was living it.

After graduation, Jordan continued building his independence. He learned to schedule his own Access rides, visit the mall, and manage dental appointments. Disneyland became one of his favorite places – somewhere employees recognized him by name and welcomed him with genuine warmth. Through these experiences, Jordan created a wonderful world for himself and learned to navigate it on his own terms.

Looking back, we realize that we could never see the entire road ahead. We could only see the bridge in front of us. Jordan kept crossing those bridges, one by one, showing us that disability may change how someone experiences the world, but it does not determine how fully they can live in it.

Cerebral palsy is part of Jordan’s story, but it has never been the whole story. His journey is one of perseverance, independence, tenacity, friendship, and hope – and there are still many bridges ahead.

This is Jordan's Journey, and we're in it to WIN it!
